This talk presents some fundamental
and developmental researches in gas turbine blade’s internal cooling to improve
the current level of cooling performance. Numerous previous studies have been
devoted to improve the cooling performance of the gas turbine blades. However,
it has been identified that there is still lacking of fundamental
thermo-physical understanding in gas turbine blade cooling and exists a margin
to improve further the current designs. A brief overview of the current gas
turbine blade cooling technologies, limited to ‘internal cooling’ as opposed to
‘external cooling,’ is discussed, followed by some new ideas that might improve
local cooling performance of gas turbine blades.
报告人简介:
Tongbeum Kim is Chair Professor of
Cooling Technologies at the School of Mechanical, Industrial and Aeronautical
Engineering in the University of the Witwatersrand. He obtained his MSc from
Georgia Tech and MPhil/PhD from Cambridge University. His research interests
include thermo-fluidic science and engineering in multi-scale porous media and
their application to gas turbine cooling. He received the HTFS Best Paper Award
from UK National Heat Transfer Committee (09/2003) and the Outstanding Reviewer
Award from the ASME Journal of Heat Transfer (11/2012).
