At Prof. Feng Xu’ s invitation, Prof. JunYang from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, visited BEBC on August 25th, 2017 and delivered a report entitled “The Next Wave of Additive Manufacturing for the Upcoming Industrial 4.0” in the meeting room 308 in the School of Life Science and Technology.
His presentation reviewed and discussed the status, recent advances and perspective of additive manufacturing for Industrial 4.0 with special focuses on 3D printing technology and printed electronics. The additive manufacturing represents a group of process where products are made by adding materials layer by layer, in contrast to removing materials of the conventional subtractive manufacturing processes. Additive manufacturing technologies are developing rapidly, which will be an important component of the upcoming industrial revolution. Industrial 4.0. At the end of the report, he had a heated discussion with teachers and students in BEBC. After that, he was invited to look around the labs of BEBC.
Introduction :
JunYang is Full Professor in Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, and has a joint appointment with Biomedical Engineering Program, Western University (The University of Western Ontario).
