On the morning of August
27th, a lecture named "Recent bioactive paper diagnostics research in BioPRIA"
was given by Professor Wei Shen from Monash University. Professor Shen
introduced their main results of paper technology and liquid marble. Different
from other academic reports, his talk was simple but profound, illustrating how
extensively scientists and artists share similar ideas and teaching us how to
find inspirations from daily life. After the talk, Professor Shen and his group
were invited to visit our lab in East 2. Ph.D. Jane introduced the POC lab for
them, having a further discussion of paper-based detection. They are also
actively seeking for new research directions and partners to further its new
research programs. Hope we can have cooperation in the coming days.
Introduction of
BioPRIA
Bio Processing Research
Institute of Australia (BioPRIA) has engaged in a number of new research
activities and ventures. The BioPRIA research program steps out the conventional
pulp, paper and printing research area, but researchers in BioPRIA still uses
the skills paper technology and printing to lead research in bio-functional
printing, new cellulosic and composite materials and low-cost diagnostic
sensors.BioPRIA has been actively seeking for new research directions and
partners to further its new research programs. This seminar presents an overview
of the low-cost diagnostic microfluidics research, which is one of the several
new research areas BioPRIA is undertaking. The new research programs in BioPRIA
have redefined its roles in the current and future collaborations with the new
industrial partners.
