On September 1st, XJTU News released a report entitled "BEBC published latest research progress on Advanced Functional Mateials". The research paper, "Chinese-Noodle-Inspired Muscle Myofiber Fabrication", was chosen as the cover story (Back Cover) and published online (IF 11.8). This work was accomplished by a doctoral candidate Yuhui Li and a Malaysian visiting student Chi Tat Poon under the supervision of Professor Feng Xu and Professor Tianjian Lu. Xi'an Jiaotong University is the first completed unit and the first communication unit.
In this paper, inspired by Chinese noodles preparing process, a new type of non-contact magnetic loading platform was developed to solve loading problem on cell-laden hydrogel in traditional methods. Furthermore, it was demonstrated for the first time that mechanical stimulation can induce gel myoblast differentiation into myotubes. And a platform was provided for tissue regeneration and mechanobiology study.
Congratulations to Dr. Yuhui Li! Look forward to more high impact work from BEBC!
