Xiaolong Sun

Dr. Xiaolong Sun started his independent career from October 2018 as Young Talent A level, in Department of Life Science and Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong University.

From 03.2015 to 09.2018, Dr. Xiaolong Sun experienced as a postdoc research fellow in The University of Texas at Austin, USA, working with Prof. Eric V. Anslyn (Associate Editor for JACS for 20 years) and Prof. Andrew Ellington; From 09.2012 to 02.2015, Dr. Xiaolong Sun pursued his PhD in University of Bath, United Kingdom, supervising by Prof. Tony D. James and Prof. Steven Bull; From 09.2009 to 02.2012, he obtained his Master Degree from East China University of Science and Technology, working for Prof. Xuhong Qian (Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of East China Normal University).

His research interests include organic synthesis to prepare small molecules that can be utilized to understand and exploit biological/environmental systems, mainly in the fluorescent detection of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, carbohydrates such as monosaccharides, auto-inductive cascades for the detection of nerve agents and combination of small molecular fluorescent probe with supporting materials, such as graphene oxide, porous silicon material, hydrogel, etc. Dr. Xiaolong Sun has published more than 20 peer-reviewed scientific papers, including Chem. Rev., ACS Cent. Sci., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Chem. Sci., etc. The work published in ACS. Cent. Sci. was highlighted and reported in more than 100 international and local medias, such as The Times, EurekAlert, New Atlas, etc. While, the work exploring mechanism of fluorescent detection of glucose in JACS was selected as Spotlights on Recent JACS Publications.
