In the morning of March 16, 2017, Professor Ming Lei from Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics Chinese Academy of Sciences came to School of Life Science and Technology at Professor Feng Xu’s invitation, and gave us an academic report entitled "Structured Illumination Microscopy and Optical Tweezers".
In the report, Professor Lei firstly introduced his research on the structural light microscopy, which is a super resolution imaging system based on Digital Micromirror Device (DMD),which has important applications in 3D imaging. His another important research is on holographic optical tweezers, which uses optical tweezers to load small particles such as cells. This technology can be used to control the stretching and rotation of cell and create multi planar optical filed, achieving a variety of special square, such as parabolic light field, scissors shape light field etc. The report has caused heated responses from the teachers and students of the center.
