The selection of the 10th China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award, organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, All-China Youth Federation, All-China Students Federation and National Working Committee of Chinese Young Pioneers, has come to an end. Jie Hu, a PhD candidate from BEBC, won the 10th China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award.

Jie Hu graduated from Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) with bachelor degree of Biomedical Engineering in July, 2011. In September, 2011, He joined XJTUBio-inspiredEngineering & BiomechanicsCenterfor the doctor degree of iomedical Engineering. His direction is diagnostics, which is to research and develop biochemical analytical devices for diagnosing diseases, monitoring environment and improving food safety.During his study, Jie Hu has published 21 academic papers with highest impact factor 9.015 and more than 200 citations. He was awarded National Scholarship and Academic Star in xi’an Jiao Tong University.

The China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award was set up in 2004 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Deng Xiaoping. It is learned that the 10th China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award adopted the method of organization recommending candidates, and carried out competitive selection among youngsters who have outstanding performance or great potential in innovation.
